Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq was appointed as the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Maldives on November 17, 2023. His responsibilities encompass formulating and executing fiscal and debt policies, overseeing the national budget, presiding over the Procurement Policy Board, and holding the presidency of the National Pay Commission. He serves as the Governor of the Republic of Maldives to the World Bank Group, Asian Development Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and the Common Fund for Commodities where he oversees technical and investment related aspects of the government under the resource mobilization mandate. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role in decision-making concerning State-Owned Enterprises.
