The Global Islamic Finance Awards is an annual international awards ceremony that recognizes countries, institutions and individuals from around the world who are striving to promote Islamic banking and finance in a sustainable manner.
The 14th Global Islamic Finance Leadership Award 2024 was presented to Maldives at a ceremony held at Villa Nautica, Paradise Island Resort on 17 September. The award recognizes Maldives’ efforts to promote Islamic finance and recognizes its achievements and milestones so far based on its efforts to promote Islamic finance in a sustainable manner.
The award was received by the Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq on behalf of President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Shafeeq highlighted the history of Islamic finance in Maldives and the changes that have taken place in the Islamic finance system. He also shared the importance of raising awareness of Islamic finance in the Maldives and the government's vision to make Maldives a regional hub of Islamic finance.
The awards ceremony was also attended by the heads of other financial institutions in the Maldives.
