Madam Zou will assume office on 16 January 2026, succeeding the Bank’s founding President Jin Liqun, whose second five-year term concludes on 15 January 2026.

With over three decades of experience in global financial policy and multilateral engagement, Madam Zou previously served as Vice Minister of Finance of the People’s Republic of China. The Bank has increasingly focused on climate finance, with at least half of new investments directed toward climate-related projects. AIIB also holds AAA credit ratings from all major international agencies and has issued bonds in 20 currencies, raising a total of USD54 billion equivalent. In recognition of its role in global development, the AIIB was granted Permanent Observer status by the United Nations in 2018.

Minister Zameer congratulated Madam Zou on her election and expressed the Maldives’ support for the Bank’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive, sustainable development. He also recognised President Jin’s contributions in establishing the AIIB as a key player in global infrastructure and development financing.
