Minister of Finance and Treasury, His Excellency, Mr. Ahmed Munawar met with a visiting Mission from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 13th July 2016.
The mission, comprising of Mr. Bruno Carrasco, Director Public Management, Financial Sector and Trade Division and Ms. Ma. Kristina Hidalgo, Financial Sector Officer, is on mission to review the Inclusive Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (MSME) Development Project, which is financed by a grant and loan from ADB. During the meeting the Minister and mission discussed about the ongoing progress of the MSME project and how to maintain progress in a sustainable manner.
The MSME project is focused on enhancing the business environment and support infrastructure for doing business with better knowledge, greater access to financing, and expanded business opportunities for MSMEs. During the meeting, Mr. Carrasco briefed the Minister on his findings from discussions with project stakeholders as well the project implementing team. The mission will have further consultations with Ministry of Economic Development, Maldives Monetary Authority, Bank of Maldives, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority and other partners and major stakeholders of the project, as they aim to review the progress in terms of outcomes and outputs.
